3 of Hearts
What is true friendship? Sometimes it is a case of being with someone and not judging them if you feel they are making mistakes. In other words, just being there for them. Yes, we are all guilty of being both judge and jury at times. It is possible the person sitting under the bridge has partaken in a substance which is accounting for their demeanour. Do we walk past, as the person in the background is doing, pretending we do not notice what we have obviously seen? Do we think less of them because we have judged their actions against our own standards? If you are associating with this character it doesn’t make you a bad person. You are just reflecting how many of us in society are conditioned to react when faced with something we feel is out of our sphere of awareness. The true friend will be there with them, possibly for a period of hours to make sure no harm comes to them.
Look how close they are to the water. In a drug induced state that is possibly an accident waiting to happen. That made me further realise this selfless action is showing me what a true friend is. Would I have turned my back on someone doing that, out of my dislike of drug taking? You know, I probably would have done. And that makes me feel uncomfortable, as it makes me realise I have a lot to learn about being a friend. When you compare the two characters, ironically the one walking by in the distance will believe they are the better person… yet when you analyse this, the one who is the angel without wings is the one next to them on the bridge. Yet they will often be the ones cast aside by society.
You just know the flute player is not a fair weather friend. How many of our so called true ‘friends’ would answer that call for help in the middle of the night, and how many would only answer the call to attend a social occasion where there would be free food and drink flowing?
